Boston’s historic Chinatown hosts their annual Chinese New Year festival, full of cultural experiences and limitless lion dances. This event branding focuses on the 2018 zodiac, the Year of the Dog. It incorporates a variety of mediums that are all unique yet have similar characteristics so they visually relate to each other. I scanned in a lot of the images—such as red envelopes, lettuce, and orange peels—to give this project collage-like imagery.

Zodiac Iconography

The Chinese zodiac consists of 12 animals, with this festival highlighting the Year of the Dog in 2018. I created an iconography system based on Chinese characters that depicts the dozen animals.
