Experience Chinatown 2024 Mural Now on Display

From September 1 to October 27, 2024, my mural for this year’s Experience Chinatown is up in the WakuWaku Ramen & Sake window near the gate! This year’s theme answers the question, “What collective actions can we take for a healthy Chinatown?”

My piece, Connected by Fate, aims to connect the Chinatown community via the Red String of Fate—an East Asian belief soulmates are connected by an invisible red string that eventually brings them together.

Thank you so much to the following people/places:

  • Pao Arts Center and the BCNC for this career-highlight opportunity, especially Ashley Yung and Maia Erslev for their guidance and help

  • TukTak Studio’s Diya for installing and her nurturing advice during the process

  • Dixon and WakuWaku Ramen & Sake for letting my design live on the window for the next two months

  • My employer, CBT Architects, and its Principal/President David Nagahiro for co-sponsoring this year’s Experience Chinatown

  • Photographer Mel Taing for these lovely pictures
